| The orientation of Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard) and Opius sp. to the host plant volatiles was investigated using Y-tube olfactory in the lab. The behavioral response experiments showed that the plant volatiles had a significant effect on the host selection of L. huidobrensis adults, and the volatiles of kidney bean and pumpkin were more attractable to the flies than that of tomato. The host plant volatiles played an important role in the process of host plants'selecting by the adults. In the trial of Y-tube olfactory, Opius sp. tended to the host plants significantly, and especially the damaged plants were more attractable. It showed that the host plant volatiles played an important role in natural enemy's finding for the host.In this paper, the chemical components of the volatiles of three different host plant species were analyzed by GC-MS. The result indicated that the chemical compositions of the pumpkin and the cucumber volatiles were most complex, and that of the tomato volatile was simplest. 24 kinds of chemicals were detected from the healthy pumpkin volatiles, the main of which were 2-methyl-Tridecane, 2,6-dimethy-Undecane, Naphthalene and 2,4-bis[1,1-dimethylethyl]-Phenol. There were 20 kinds of chemicals from the infested pumpkin volatiles, the main of which were alpha-Pinene, 1,2-dichloro-Benzene, Naphthalene and Docosane. 26 kinds of chemicals were detected from the healthy cucumber volatiles, the main of which alpha-Pinene, 3,7-dimethyl-Decane, Naphthalene, 2,3,6-trimethyl-Decane and Docosane. There were 19 kinds of chemicals from the infested cucumber volatiles, the main of which 1s-alpha-Pinene, 2-ethyl-1-Hexanol, Nonanal, Naphthalene, decahydro-4,8,8-trimethyl-9-methylene-[1s-(1.alpha.,3a.beta., 4.alpha, 8a. beta.)]-1,4- Methanoazulene and Docosane. 10 kinds of chemicals were detected from the healthy tomato volatiles, the main of which were alpha-Pinene, 4-carene and Beta- phellandrene. There were 14 kinds of chemicals from the infested tomato volatiles, the main of which were alpha-Pinene, [+]-4-Carene, beta-Phellandrene, Naphthalene and Docosane. |
