It was found that tested on the effects of the chemical Eomecon chionantha alkaloids(ECA) which traced from the radicle and the rhizoma of Eomecon chionantha Hance to kill the Oncomelania hupensis and observed the changes of ultrastructure of the snails' cells in this paper.(1) ECA has good effect in controlling the snails. The chemical concentration, soaking time and water temperature can affect ECA in controlling the snails. The experiment data were analysis by SPSS13.0. The results prove that the effect of ECA killing snails is increased with the raised of chemical concentration, temperature, soaking time.(2)With comparing the organizational structure of normal snail, the nervous system, genital system and foot muscle of snails immersed in ECA solution 48 h have been damaged and changed in varying degrees: waned the neurocyte and nucleus of O.hupensis, and changed ultrachondriome and endoplasmic reticulum;atrophied oocyte, few ultrachondriome;spermatogonium pyknosis, cell apoptosis;the muscle fibers of its foot arranged in loose change, and widened the distance between the muscle beam.ECA can cause the damage of snail's foot muscle then lead to the snail dyskinesia, extended the contact time of snails in the chemical, increase the effectiveness of the chemical;destruction of neurocyte of the snails cause further damage. At the same time, not only blocking the transmission of nerve impulses but also can impact foot muscle contraction and relaxation;and gonad changes may be a direct impact on fertility and reproduction of snails, reduce the density of snails. These might be partly due to the snail's death.Molluscicide plants have the advantages of rich resources in our country, making use of local materials, biodegradable, small environmental impact. They are the major topic of domestic and international researches. The results lay the foundation for the further study of the pharmacological effects of Eomecon chionantha Hance, opens up new areas for the application of molluscicide plant alkaloids. This chemical appeared great significance in controlling the spread of schistosomiasis effect.
