The study on the population dynamics of oriental fruit fly(Bactrocera dorsalis(Hendel))in Yongtai plum orchard showed that the population of oriental fruit flies was increasing from 2005 to 2007 and the total number was 114.3 per trap, 308.10 per trap and 667.06 per trap respectively. The population of oriental fruit flies presented a single peak in Fuzhou and the peak emerged in the November compared with bimodal peak in Zhangzhou where the peak emerged in the end of June and early September respectively. The population dynamics of oriental fruit fly was closely related to their living environment and also was affected by temperature and rain days.The optimal day activity rhythm of oriental fruit flies emerged when the temperature from 20℃to 30℃and the humidity from 60% to 80%. The optimal day activity rhythm of oriental fruit flies also was significantly affected by rain and environment.In this study the attractant was Methyl eugenol(ME). The efficacy of different number and materials of bait core, and different types of traps on oriental fruit fly were studied. Influence of temperature to the ME concentration in traps was calculated by group contribution and influence of the number of baits in certain air flow to the ME concentration in traps was measured. The results revealed that the best attractiveness effect to oriental fruit fly could be obtained by appropriate ME concentration in traps and closely related to temperature. The traps with wooden bait had the best efficacy compared with the cotton bait and the acetic acid fiber bait but were valid short time. The duration of cotton, acetic acid and wooden bait was 42~45 days,27~30 days and 18~21days respectively.The dispersal distance of sterile males and parasitoid of oriental fruit fly parasitic wasp were 300m and 100m respectively.The effect of three control methods used together in the field was found to reach about 90%.
