Timbers of Schima superba and Liquidambar formosana with different ages in Zhejiang province were gathered and studied systematically, in regards to anatomy properties, main physical and mechanical properties, chemical properties, slicing, peeling and other processing and utilization adaptabilities. Results showed that:Liquidambar formosana, Schima superba radial wood ring width variation curve outward from the pith was first increased and then decreased,final stabilized, compared with Schima superba,Liquidambar formosana matured earlier.Liquidambar formosana and Schima superba's main physical properties and mechanical strength had reached intermediate level of domestic hardwood materials, Schima wood materials is slightly better than the Liquidambar formosana materials. The physical and mechanical properities of Schima superba and Liquidambar formosana underwent a turning point at the age between 20-25. It should be use of Liquidambar formosana and Schima superba's timber on the age of 25 years later. Wood density and mechanical strength of a variety of indicators related to significant.In this paper ,we built the regression equation to reflect mechanical strength of timber and timber density's quantitative relationship betweenthe Liquidambar formosana and Schima superba.Liquidambar formosana, Schima superba mature anatomy and chemical properties of wood for pulp and paper are very favorable, Liquidambar formosana is good choose compared with Schima superba.Liquidambar formosana, Schima superba mature wood of peeled veneer bonding strength than the national standards for technical requirements. Liquidambar materials such as process improvement can reduce the veneer cracks, entirely suitable for the production of plywood; S.superba plywood produced from the trial, the bonding strength far exceeds the national standards for technical requirements, and the wood board, colors and patterns are beautiful. Liquidambar formosana, Schima superba and Liquidambar formosana's mature timber slicing effects of panel overlaid and properties after overlaying showed good comprehensive performance. Comparatively speaking, the processing and utilization S.superba performance is superior to Liquidambar.
