Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of threeglycometabolic modulators (rosiglitazone, glibenclamide and fructose-1,6-diphosphate) on growth performance, serum biochemical indices andglycometabolism of Carassius auratus gibelio. In trial 1, the experiment was conducted to determine the growthperformance, blood biochemical indices, liver and muscle glycogencontents in Carassius auratus gibelio (initial body weight:4.87±0.12g)fed with basal diet supplemented with three glycometabolic modulatorswere rosiglitazone 10mg/kg, glibenclamide 10mg/kg and FDP 4g/kg,respectively. The control group was fed with based diet. The experimentlasted for 56 days. Dietary rosiglitazone supplematation decreased feedconversion rate, increased hepatosomatic index, increased total protein(TP)and albumin(ALB) content and decreased glucose concentration inplasma, increased muscle glycogen content(P < 0.05), dietary FDPaddition improved GTP and GOT activities, increased TP, ALB and GLOcontents(P < 0.05), dietary glibenclamide supplematation increasedhepatosomatic index, TP, ALB and GLO contents, reduced glucoseconcentration in plasma(P<0.05).In trial 2, a 30 days feeding trial was conducted to study the effects ofdietary rosiglitazone supplematation on serum biochemical indices andglycometabolism of Carassius auratus gibelio. 480 Carassius auratusgibelio with an average body weight of (5.30±0.38)g were randomlyallocated into 4 groups with 4 replicates of 30 fishes. The control groupwas fed with the basal diet, while group RSGⅠ, RSGⅡand RSGⅢ, astrial groups, were fed with the basal diet added with 10, 15 and 20 mg/kg rosiglitazone respectively. The results showed that when comparedwith the control group, activities of GPT in serum were increasedsignificantly in group RSGⅡand RSGⅢ(P<0.05). Activity of GOT andLDH in serum was increased significantly in group RSGⅢ(P<0.05).Activity of TP in serum were increased significantly in each trial group(P<0.05). Activities of blood glucose and insulin in serum were decreasedsignificantly in each trial group(P < 0.05).The content of muscleglycogen were increased significantly in each trial group(P<0.05). Theresults showed that, adding three levels of rosiglitazone to diet could regulate the level blood glucose of Carassius auratus gibelio. However, dietary supplementation 20mg/kg of rosiglitazone could result inimpaired liver function in Carassius auratus gibelio. In conclusion, there were no any significant differences in growthperformance within three glycometabolic modulators compared with thecontrol group in C. auratus gibelio. However, dietary supplementation ofrosiglitazone and glibenclamide could reduce glucose concentration inplasma significantly, dietary supplementation of rosiglitazone couldreduce the content of muscle glycogen and insulin level significantly, rosiglitazone could regulate the level of blood glucose of Carassiusauratus gibelio.
