Remote sensing monitoring of soil moisture is the forefront of application of remote sensing technology , and is one of the recognized world-wide problem. The use of remote sensing methods to inverse surface soil moisture is the focus of the study and difficult. It can reflect the distribution of space and time changes of soil moisture, with the advantages of monitoring a wide range, fast, low cost, long-term of dynamic monitoring. This article is supported by key project of Ministry of Education "Remote Sensing Analysis of Loss of Soil Moisture Resulted in Ground Deformation in Coal Mining Area in Northern Shaanxi', and carry out quantitative analysis on the soil moisture in the deformation zone Using GIS, RS technology.AIl these researches provide a basis support for the spatial distribution regulation of soil moisture, ecological protection and restoration of coal resources. In this paper, research area is the mining ground deformation zone in HuoJitu. Taking Landsat-TM of 2007 remote image as the data pool, in order to research the spatial variety characteristics of soil moisture in coal mining area which leads to serious crack,(1) take samples in the crack area and non-crack area and research spatial distribution characteristics of the surface soil moisture;(2) using "optical vegetation cover" model to eliminate the disturbance of vegetation on soil moisture effectively;(3) Quantitative analysis model between remote data and ground measured data is established using spectroscopy which is based on the visible and near-infrared;(4) this paper inversed the soil moisture of surface ground and produced distribution maps of soil moisture, and then analysis the spatial distribution regulation and reason of soil moisture. The inversion of remote sensing of soil moisture distribution indicates that the soil moisture in coal mining is obviously lower than it in non-coal mining area. Comparing sampling points of soil moisture with the corresponding of soil moisture inversion arrives at an average of 52.99% relative error. Then proves spectrometry to establish the model of remote sensing inversion can be applied in the coal mining area. All these researches provide a basis support for the spatial distribution regulation of soil moisture, ecological protection and restoration of coal resources.
