This essay takes Chinese traditional medical herb Sophora flavescens as research object. By combining field research and laboratorial assay determination, we systematically studied the biological production and alkali content of Sophora flavescens with different Sowing date and different quantities of nitrogen phosphorus fertilizer from 2007 to 2008 at Lanzhou DaDeLi Biology & Biochemistry Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd in ZongZai Town, JiuQuan, Gansu Province. The main results are as follows:The suitable seeding period of Sophora flavescens in JiuQuan is from April 20th to May 20th and the wintering rate has much to do with seeding period, that is to say, if the seeding time is earlier and the stem will be stronger, the root will be deeper, the wintering rate will be higher as well. The reasons for high wintering rate of early-sowed Sophora flavescens are that: with strong photosynthesis and more dry matters, the plants grow healthy and strong, the root can grow flourishly, which is good for absorb water and nutritive substance from the earth. If seeding after July, since the period of growth is short, the stem of the plants will grow thin, so the wintering rate is low or cannot survive at all.By using fertilizers like nitrogenous and phosphate can increase the production of Sophora flavescens Ait at different level, which is one measurement for increasing man-planted Sophora flavescens. It is studied that using nitrogenous and phosphate together is better than separately. When the mixture ratio of nitrogenous and phosphate fertilizer of annual growth Sophora flavescens is 100kg/hm2 and 45kg/hm2 , the average root production is the largest, while when the mixture ratio of nitrogenous and phosphate fertilizer of two year growth Sophora flavescens is 200kg/hm2 and 22.5kg/hm2 , the average root production is the largest.Using nitrogenous and phosphate separately the total alkali content will be increase. Within 0-300kg/hm2 of using nitrogenous fertilizer, the total Alkaloids content of Sophora flavescens and the single plant is the biggest when using 300kg/hm2 ; while within 0-90kg/hm2 of using phosphate fertilizer, the total Alkaloids content of Sophora flavescens and the single plant is the biggest when using 90kg/hm2. The build-up effect of total Alkaloids content of Sophora flavescens is P fertilizer > N fertilizer.
