Aspen flower Extract , a kind of chinese medicine, have been proved that it has multiplicate pharmacology activeness such as antimicrobial and antiviral. The present study aimed to explore the the effects of Aspen flower Extract on performance , immune function, apparent availability of nutrient and intestinal microflora of broilers and lay a foundation for the application of Aspen flower Extract on broilers and disease prevention. In our experiment, 900 1-day old health KeBao 500 broilers were randomly assigned to five groups with six replicates, one hundred-eighty KeBao 500 broilers per group. Experimental period was forty-nine days. The control was fed with basal diet, the KeBao 500 broilers in the experimental groups were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t, 1.5kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen flower Extract respectively. The weight was measured in 1 day, 21 day and 49 day and daily weight gains, average feed intake and feed efficiency (feed /gains) were calculated. Blood samples were collected at the end of the 21-day and 49-day feeding trial, and the parameters related growth performance, immunne function and intestinal microflora were observed. At the end of the 46-day, 47-day and 48-day feeding trial, urine and feces were collected to measure apparent availability of nutrient. The results showed that:1. The growth performance of broilers could be increased by Aspen flower Extract supplementation. With supplementation of 1.5kg/t Aspen flower Extract in the diet, daily weight gains of the broilers increased by 7.96%(P<0.05), 4.47%(P<0.05), 4.89%(P<0.05),6.33% (P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet, significant difference. With supplementation of 1.0kg/t Aspen flower Extract in the in the diet, average feed intake of the broilers decreased by 2.15% (P>0.05) 3.95% (P>0.05), 5.31%(P<0.05), 6.37%(P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.5kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. With supplementation of 1.0kg/t Aspen flower Extract in the diet, feed efficiency (feed/gains) of the broilers decreased by 6.39% (P<0.05) ,3.07% (P<0.05), 6.87% (P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet, significant difference. No significant difference compared with 1.5kg/t (P>0.05).2. The immune function of KeBao 500 broilers was strengthened by Aspen flower Extract addition. In 21 day, IgA levels of the broilers in 1.5kg/t group increased by 16.13%(P<0.01),9.09%(P<0.05),12.50%(P<0.05),12.50%(P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. IgG levels of the broilers in 1.5kg/tgroup increased by 12.29% (P<0.01),12.77% (P<0.01),5.58%(P<0.05),5.16% (P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. In 49 day, IgA levels of the broilers in 1.5kg/t group increased by11.43% (P<0.05) , 8.33% (P<0.05), 8.33%(P<0.05) compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. IgG levels increased by 13.42% (P<0.01),12.45% (P<0.01), 11.46%(P<0.01), 10.55%(P<0.01), significant difference. IgA was increased slightly by Aspen flower Extract addition, but no significant difference compared with others. In 21 day, thymus index increased significant in 1.0kg/t and 1.5kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet, was highest, increased by 20.53%(P<0.01) and 28.48%(P<0.01), significant difference. In 49 day, thymus index increased by 12.86%(P<0.05) and 13.33%(P<0.05), significant difference., was compared to control, 1.0kg/ and 1.5kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. Spleen and bursa of Fabricius was also higher, but no significant difference compared to others.3. The apparent availability of nutrient of broilers could be increased by Aspen flower Extract supplementation. Aspen flower Extract supplementation added in diet can improve siganificant availability of protein, availability of protein in 1.5kg/t group increased by12.28%(P<0.01), 9.71%(P<0.05), 4.79%(P<0.05), 4.54%(P<0.05), significant difference, compared to control, 0.5kg/t, 1.0kg/t and 2.0kg/t Aspen Flower Extract in the diet. but no significant difference compared to others.4. The intestinal microflora of broilers could be improved by Aspen flower Extract supplementation. With supplementation of 1.5kg/t Aspen flower Extract in the diet, E.coli of broilers decreased by 5.31%(P<0.05), Lactobocillus of broilers increased by 8.72%(P<0.05), compared to control, significant difference. Effect on Bifidobacterium was slight,no significant difference, compared to others. In conclusion, the propriety of basal diet supplemented with 10% Aspen flower Extract was 1.5kg/t.
