Studies On The Hematology Of Chinese Mitten Crabs, Eriocheir Sinensis

Blood parameters of healthy adult Chinese mitten crabs,Eriocheir sinensis were evaluated in this study.Effects of sex on blood parameters of Chinese mitten crabs were investigated at the same time.Whilst effects of the different aquatic environments on blood parameters of Chinese mitten crabs cultured in the lake-stocked(LS) model and pond-reared(PR) model were determined respectively. At last,the comparison of blood parameters of LS and PR Chinese mitten crabs at the same water area were performed.Levels of blood parameters of healthy adult Chinese mitten crabs were:the number of hemocytes,1.67±0.52×10~7 cells/mL;urea, 1.31±0.58 mmol/L;creatinine,20.95±12.49μmol/L;triglyceride,0.22±0.096 mmol/L;total cholesterol,0.7±0.33 mmol/L;total protein,57.77±17.43 g/L;albumin, 4.9±2.47 g/L;globulin,52.86±15.88 g/L;hemocyanin,1.60±0.77 mmol/L; magnesium,3.02±0.66 mmol/L;calcium,2.75±0.98 mmol/L;phosphorus,0.26±0.1 mmol/L;sodium,239.9±44.77 mmol/L;potassium,4.11±0.87 mmol/L;chlorine, 266.97±38.21 mmol/L.Values of plasma proteins and lipids of the female adults were higher than the male adults.It could be explained by the fact that maturations of the females in this period were very good.In both two cultured models,levels of the number of hemocytes and plasma proteins of Chinese mitten crabs in the good aquatic environment were higher than that in the bad aquatic environment.It showed the importance of the aquatic environment from the perspective of hematology.It also told that aquatic animals cultured in the good aquatic environment had strong immune ability and good nutritional status.At the same water area,levels of the number of hemocytes,plasma proteins,plasma sodium and chlorine of PR Chinese mitten crabs were higher than that of LS crabs.It indicated that the immune and stress abilities of the PR Chinese mitten crabs might be stronger than that of the LS crabs.Furthermore,the nutritional status of the PR crab was better.Results of the present study could enrich the basic biological informations of the Chinese mitten crab,and also could provide theoretical basis for artificial breeding and diseases prevention of this species.
