The effect of human activities on the natural world since the emergence of humanity, it broken the relative balance of the various factors in nature and prompted accelerated erosion state expand from natural erosion. Historical research has proved that man-made activities has a very profound impact on the evolution of soil erosion, it controlled the direction and scale of soil erosion to a great degree, so it's a significant occurrence that prove up the volume of man-made accelerated erosion in the basin of the total erosion, can provide the correct direction for take effective measures in small watershed management. At the same time, farmers act on soil directly as the main part of agricultural production, also they have a direct and profound experience about soil and water loss furthest and to become the main force of bringing soil erosion under control, so it is absolutely necessary to discuss and analysis the influencing factors about farm households' understand on soil and water loss and internal mechanism of farm households' behavior of water and soil conservation investment. The main task and key results are follow :According to analysis of historical materials, the evolutionary process of soil erosion during historical period in Chinese are discussed in this paper, the occurring ,expanding and aggravating of accelerated erosion in Chinese have taken a fairly long period of time. Then taking Wangjiaqiao watershed as a typical case and based on the study of regional geomorphologic evolution, the technical method on quantitative assessment on natural and man-made erosion is proposed. Aided by GIS software, the altitude-area integral and geomorphologic evolution stage of Wangjiaqiao watershed are determined, the man-made erosion amount is also estimated. The results show that the geomorphologic evolution stage of Wangjiaqiao watershed is between adolescent and old stage, the volume of man-made accelerated erosion in the basin of the total erosion is about 65%; And then based on the farm households' questionnaire in Wangjiaqiao watershed, the paper analyzed the influencing factors about farm households' understand on soil and water loss, then a linear regression model was eatablished to analysis mechanism of farm households' behavior of water & soil conservation investment. The following factors can affect farm households' understand on soil and water loss largely: farm households' education levels, family income per head, per capita arable land, fluent information level, and farm households' understand on soil and water loss remains at the basic level generally. Farm households' behavior of water & soil conservation investment was mostly influenced by labor situation, agricultural land area and part-farm behavior of farm households'. Finally, the paper put forward some suggestions on how to bring the soil & water loss under control. The results of this study will help us to grasp the correct direction for take effective measures in small watershed management, encourage farm households to increase the water and soil conservation input actively and prompt the related work of water and soil loss control.
