Silkworm feces, the dried excrement excreted by the larva of Bombyx mori Linnacus, have been used as traditional Chinese medicine, to treat cancer, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and so on. Currently, only pectin, alkaloids, chlorophyll and its derivatives were studied. We researched the extraction technology of flavonoids from Silkworm feces, the mainly contents and results were following:The pretest-tube method is used to indicate the chemical composition in Silkworm feces, and the results show that there exist: flavonoids, alkaloids, carbohydrates , saponins , steroids , terpenoids , coumarines , amino acids , proteins and no cardiac glycosides, Anthraquinone and volatile oils in Silkworm feces.The total flavonoid was determined by spectrophotometry and ultrasound-assisted. The influencing factors on the extraction rate of flavoniod in the Silkworm feces were investigated in the single-factor experiments. The factors are ethanol density, ethanol dosage, extracting time and extracting times. On this basis, optimized this extraction process by L9(33) orthogonal test.The result showed that AB-8 macroporous resin is good to the total flavonoids of the Silkworm feces comparing with the findings in the three macroporous resin (AB-8, S-8, D101) adsorption and desorption experiments. Finally, we studied the purification process of total flavonoid by resin.The best extraction conditions of total flavonoid are: 8 times amount of 60% ethanol, ultrasonic extracting 3 times and every time with 25 minutes, and the gross production of the total flavonoids is 4.66%.The technological parameters of extracting the total flavonoinds of the Silkworm feces in AB-8 macroporous resin oscillation experiments are: the concentration of the Silkworm feces extraction solution is 0.06 mg/ml, pH value is 6, and it yields saturated solution after two-hour adsorption. The technologies of the macroporous resin dynamic adsorption and desorption are: extraction solution is 0.06 mg/ml, pH value is 6, the flow velocity is 1.0 ml/min, remove the impurities with 3VB distilled water, desorption with 3-5 VB 90% ethanol, the flow velocity is 1.0 ml/min, the recovery rate of the total flovoniods is 89.9%. The total flavonoids was 37.5% which is 8 times of the crude production .The extraction process is more stable and well repetitiveness, providing theoretical basis for further studies. The purification process is feasible.
