With the adjustment of agricultural structure, aquaculture industry developed rapidly. So the demand of the silage is increasing. Shredding mechanism which is the major assembly of silage cutter is easy to be failure. Therefore, whether the parameter design is rational or not that directly decides the cutter's power consumption, cutting quality and throwing performance. As for this problem, this paper aimed to analyze and improve shredding mechanism that made up the defects of traditional design and improved work performance and service life based on the modern design method.In this paper, it used the FEA software Pro/MECHANICA to analyze the moving blade and the spindle of the shredding mechanism. In order to study their strength and stiffness, finite element model of moving blade and spindle were built. The paper found out the place where the largest stress and deformation happened and which is easiest damaged. Then by analyzing the moving blade's sensitivity, selected the geometric parameters which greatest impact on the stress of moving blade to optimize. After optimizing, reduced the quality and improved the cutting performance of the moving blade.The spindle in the work process of chopping stems was bound to be shocked and vibration. In order to test the spindle's vibration, the modality of the spindle was analyzed. After modal analyzing, got the first six natural frequencies and modes of spindle and known that the spindle's working frequency avoided every natural frequency, so that the spindle can't arouse resonance. After checking the spindle's fatigue strength which suffered from a circulating load, it can provide reliable theoretical basis for failure analyzing and optimization designing of the spindle.In this paper, it realized the shredding mechanism's simulating motion. By analyzing the structure's displacement, velocity, acceleration and motion interference, got a stable movement to meet the job requirements.The paper used FEA of the modern design method to analyze and study the component of shredding mechanism which supplied the theoretic proof for the structure's designing and improved design efficiency, reduced design costs.
