The study based on the principle of mechanics of materials and soil mechanics, by method of field test, collapse simulation test, whole plant drawing test and be analyzed by Slope2000v2.5, research on the effectiveness of soil reinforcement by roots of Caragana microphylla, Salix psammophila, Sabina vulgaris and Artemisia sphaerocephala based on root mechanics. Conclusions are as follows:The anti-cracking performance of four kinds of root-soil composites are superior to pure soil. Four kinds of root-soil composites compared, the anti-cracking performance of Artemisia sphaerocephala> Salix psammophila> Caragana microphylla> Sabina vulgaris> blank control, and with the distance to plants increased, the anti-cracking performance decreased. There is a positive correlation between anti-cracking performance of four kinds of roots and cumulative length, surface area, dry weight. The whole plants drawing force of Artemisia sphaerocephala> Caragana microphylla> Salix psammophila> Sabina vulgaris, and the whole plants drawing force increased as cumulative surface areas increased. The analysis of Slope2000v2.5 shows that, whether fixed slip surface or unfixed slip surface, the safety coefficient of root-soil, quantity of soil reinforcement by roots, the bottom tangential shear of same piece manifested as reinforced+ anchorage of root-soil composites > reinforced of root-soil composites> pure soil. The soil stability improved by roots of Salix psammophila> Artemisia sphaerocephala> Caragana microphylla> Sabina vulgaris> pure soil.
