Ginkgo biloba L. was the test materials in this experiment, in later stages of development of the seed, the translocation and partitioning of photosynthetic products among the seed organizations were preliminary studied by 14C isotope tracer technique; the volatile components of ovule exudates and pollen of Ginkgo biloba L. were were analyzed by SPME-GC/MS. The main results were as follows:1. As the 14C radioactivity from seed pedicel to nutlet was high to low gradient, and its sequenced peeks among the seed organizations, This results suggested that the translotation pathway of photosynthate was from phloem bundle to testa, and then from mesoperm to nutlet. This result suggests that postphloem assimilate transport was more difficult, and maybe endopleura was the limiting site of assimilate translocation in the fruit.2. Ratios of Specific 14C radioactivity of phloem bundle to that of testa, of testa to that of mesoperm and of mesoperm to that of nutlet were different, the latter ratio being higher than that of the formers. This result suggested that postphloem assimilate transport was more difficult, and maybe endopleura was the limiting site of assimilate translocation in the fruit.3. Testa and nutlet is the main storage of ginkgo seed in later stages of seed development. And it showed that 14C-photosynthates were continuously transporting from testa to nutlet, athough 80% of the distribution of 14C- photosynthates in the testa of seed, while less than 5% of that in the nutlet.4. The volatile components of ginkgo ovule vomiting were mainly esters (37.39%) and phenolic compounds (23.17%). The main contents were 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-methylpropyl) ester (25.89%), 4-Octadecyl-Morpholine (10.55%), Butylated Hydroxytolu -ene (10.26%). These compounds play a role of protection and stimulation to the pollen as their chemical properties of moisturizing, antibacterial and antioxidation.5. There was a larger difference between the volatile components of ginkgo ovule vomiting and that of pollen. The main contents were Alkanes (33.27%), alkenes (14.83%), alcohols (10.29%) and esters (8.24%), while the relative content of Phenolic aldehydes and ketones were smaller. And there were less of same components between the volatile components of ginkgo ovule vomiting and that of pollen, which mainly include five kinds of Alkanes, three kinds of Terpenes and one kinds of Esters and Ketones, such as Pentadecane, Hexadecane, Longifolene, Cedrene, Cedrol, and so on.
