Water resources is the indispensable natural resources for human survival and development. With the development of domestic economy, the shortage of water resources used in irrigation has been an important restraint factor in arid and semiarid areas. The utilization of saline water is a effective way of easing up the problem of water resources shortage. The under-film drip irrigation has gained widespread popularity as an efficient and economically viable irrigation method for increasing water use efficiency and reducing the adverse effects of salinity on plant growth and yield. Saline water irrigation effects were studied for two growing seasons in a measure pit experiment with a bottom saline water irrigation, a field experiment with saline water irrigation and a pot-culture experiment with the aim of clarifying: (1)characters spatio-temporal change of soil salt contents under surface drip irrigation in arid region; (2)Saline water irrigation effects on the above ground growth and yield of cotton and yield response functions of cotton to soil salinity; (3) Efects of soil salinity on the germination percentage and seedling growth of cotton; (4) Relation between whole-salt quantity in oasis-desert ecotones and electric conductivity.
