Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier (Coleoptera:Curculionidae) is a key destructive insect pest of palmaceous plant, which is one of the nineteen plant quarantine pest promulgated in 2005. It is mainly harms to the roots, leafstalk and stems of hosts. In recent years, the overspread of this pest in the southern region of our country grow like a weed, it caused a grave economic loss for palmaceous industry. In this paper, the control technology of red palm weevil were studied, especially include the chemical control, acoustic detection and semiochemical control. The technology parameters of forecast and control were provided. The main results were shown as following:1 Acoustic detection of larvae of R. ferrugineus in the laboratorySeveral dominant factors were mastered which impacted on the test with AED-2000L portable acoustic detector. The result showed:within a certain density of larvae becomed larger, the density of larvae was greater. With the distance between test points and larvae increased, measured value reduced. The maximum average value of acoustic detection was under the condition of 28±1℃, the medium was at 24±1℃,32±1℃, but three had no significant difference. As the age of larvae increased, the measured value became greater. However, when at last instar larvae stage, the measured value began to decrease clearly.2 The study on application of aggregation pheromone.Activity monitoring in field showed R. ferrugineus usually moved all the year, the movement fastigium was two times a year, and the imago number of R. ferrugineus traped was greatest from June to August. From behavior responsed and trapped in field, we were kwnon chemical compounds and volatile of plant ferments were different significantly to control R. ferrugineus with aggregation pheromone. In addition, developping a new-style trap which is simple and convenient to use in field.2 Chemical control of R. ferrugineusThe control effect of fifteen common used insecticides against elderly larva of R. ferrugineus was evaluated in laboratory. The preliminary selection showed the toxicities of 3% acetamiorid,4.5% beta-cypermethrin,30% Triazophos and 80% dichlorovos were higher and better, mortality rate were about 90% separately on the seventh day after treating, the control efficacy was significantly higher than other pesticides (p<0.01). The other tested insecticides are not as good as expected. The field study indicated 3% acetamiorid EC is the most effective pesticide to control the elderly larva of R. ferrugineus. While fumigating with Calcium Phosphide is much more effect to control serious damaged palms.4 Control R. ferrugineus with BTLaboratorial experiment with BT against the elderly larva of R. ferrugineus revealed:all the strains had no obvious activity to control R. ferrugineus, the largest mortality rate was just 63.3% on SG2, that would have a prosperous future for young R. ferrugineus.
