The rubber borers are the general called of the bark beetles which damage the rubber trees badly, including some species of Platypodidae, Scolytidac, Lyctidae, Lymexylidae and Bostrychidae. In recent years, the rubber borers have been frequent pest form past time sporadic and threatened our country rubber industry. In Hainan province, the rubber borers species included Xyleborus leborusaffinis Eichh, Xyleborus aquilus Blandford, Xyleborus fornicatus Eichhoff, Xyleborus penforans Wollaston, Platypus calamus Blandford, Heterobostrychus aequalisWaterhouse, Sinoxylon japonicum Lesne etc. The rubber borers adults do not damage the general health rubber trees except by the typhoon, cold injury, disease and lightning damage etc. When the rubber trees xylem exposed and parts cortex splited and the trunk and branches growth weakness, the rubber borers adults get into rubber tree xylem and lay eggs in the mother tunnel, after the eggs hatch, the larvae make tunnel around for nutrition in the mother tunnel, while the formation of sub-tunnel borer, mature larvae pupate in the sub-tunnel till broken out the tree bark to damage the other rubber tree. As beetles hiding and controlling extremely difficult, conventional method of spraying chemicals on their hard work, therefore, using aggregation pheromones to trap the rubber borers was a nice choice. The bark beetle aggregation pheromone is an insect pheromone. Using aggregation pheromones to trap pests was not in contact with plants and other agricultural products in the field and no using pesticides and environment-friendly. Using bark beetle aggregation pheromone to trap rubber borers test in rubber plantation and the results show that:1. Among of common bark beetles aggregation pheromone, (s)+cis-Verbenol and (s)-(+)-Ipsidenol was a good trapping effect in rubber plantation. Two kinds of bark beetle aggregation pheromone are better effect and their concentrations are lower in the test. Alone verbenone was less effective trapping bark beetle, and obvious enhance on mixing a-pinene.2. Using cis-Verbenal and (s)-(+)-Ipsidenol to trap rubber borers suited dosage was 25.0mL 800 times and hung and stabed holes 150 on a small bag in the rubber plantation for large-scale applications.3. A light, simple, recyclable, no pollution simple rubber borers trap was designed and made in the article, and it is low cost and wide application prospect.4. The method of using simple rubber borers traps was reported which hanging high was 2.5m and distance was 50m. The hang bag on simple rubber borers traps was better effect than letting liquid aggregation pheromone in a bottle.5. Using aggregation pheromone to trap rubber borers related to the seasonal variations, and field trapping effect was directly related to meteorological factors, for example wind, rain, extreme cold and heat were not conducive for trapping rubber borers. Best of all time for traping bubber borers was in winter, low rainfall and 22-28℃in the rubber plantation and each year in December to next January.
