Osmanthus fragrans is one of ten famous flowers of our traditional and widely used in the garden. Today many greening works are implemented in abnormal time for tree transplanting. How to improve the survival rate of Osmanthus fragrans in abnormal time is an issue to the present. In this study, application of new k2 air control root container (60 cm×60cm) on 6a cultivated Osmanthus fragrans. Under the control root cultivation mode, the study on distribution characteristics and seasonal dynamics of 6a Osmanthus fragrans root system by the earth borer. To provide technical support.for large-scale production of seedlings Osmanthus.Test from Nov.2008 to Nov.2009 in Luhe District within the nursery of Nanjing Forestry University. The major findings are as follows:1. Under the control root cultivation mode,found that Osmanthus's Fibrous root sprouts obviously and absorbing roots were increasing. The seedlings can be formed the root group early. As the time changes, root length, root volume and root surface area increased, more root branched, root length density increased, significantly higher than the Osmanthus fragrans without the control container. The root length, root volume , root surface area and length density respectively higher 62.37%,32.35%,26.23%, 89.53% than the comparison.But the root diameter didn't has a significant change , the average diameter is 0.540mm. It showed that air control root container can significantly improve the quality of roots, but has no significant effection on root diameter.2. Under the control root cultivation mode,studied on Osmanthus's root at all levels in all soil depth,found that root length, root surface area, root volume changes regularly.The fine root (d≤2cm) distribution layer shifted, more and more concentrated in the 0 ~ 10cm soil depth with time, indicating that there is a certain effect on root configuration produced by control root container cultivation.3. Analysis of variance of roots at all levels on root length, root surface area and root volume , showed that levels of roots were significantly different (P<0.05), Through analysis, fine root (0 0.05).4. Two cultivation methods of the control root container cultivation and bare cultivated of Osmanthus fragrans on the root length, root volume, root length density, root surface area produced a significant effect (P<0.05). Of no significant effect (P>0.05) on the root average diameter. Analysis of Osmanthus fragrans index correlation showed that all indexes have some relevance.5. The roots come into contact with the container wall , physiological measurement of Osmanthus root in Sept.Oct.and Nov. It showed that a large number of new roots have not yet appeared strong competition, and the root growth has not yet restricted by the role of the root domain.
