Plant parasitic nematode is one of the important infective pathogens, which harm is only next to fungal disease. In order to fill the gaps in the field of the pathogenicity of poplar parasitic nematodes, species survey of poplar parasitic nematode was carried out in six cities of Jiangsu province in 2008, and pathogenicity of the dominant species were studied. From 108 samples collected from the roots, rhizosphere soil and stem of poplar tree, 11 species of plant nematodes in rhizosphere soil of the poplar tree were identified. They belong to 3 orders, 7 families and 8 genus. And 2 species of plant nematodes in stem of the poplar tree were identified. They belong to 1 order, 2 families and 2 genus. The rhizosphere parasitic nematodes of poplar tree were as follows:Filenchus orbus Andrassy,1954 F. vulgaris (Brzeski,1963)Lownsbery&Lownsbery,1985 Tylenchorhynchus brassicae,Siddiqi,1961 Helicotylenchus digitiformis Ivanova,1967 Scutellonema brachyurus (Steiner,1938) Andrassy,1958 Aphelenchus sparsus Thorne&Malek,1968 Aphelenchoides helicus Heyns,1964 Aphelenchoides limberi Steiner,1936 Xiphinema americanum Cobb,1913 X. hunaniense Wang&Wu,1992 Bursaphelenchus sp. Fuchs,1937 The stem parasitic nematodes of poplar tree were as follows: Aphelenchoides haguei Maslen,1979 Seinura citri (Andrassy,1957)J.B,Goodey,1960Among the above nematodes, F. vulgaris, A. sparsus, A. helicus, A. haguei and Seinura citri were species of new records in Jiangsu Province. And the poplar tree was new host of F. vulgaris, T. brassicae, A. sparsus, A. helicus, X. hunaniense, A. haguei and Seinura citri. The results showed that H. digitiformis, F. orbus and X. hunaniense were the rhizosphere dominant nematode species of poplar tree in Jiangsu Province. The most widely distributed species were Helicotylenchus digitiformis and Filenchus orbus, then was Xiphinema hunaniense. Species of rhizosphere parasitic nematodes would change in different poplar varieties. Populations of each rhizosphere parasitic nematode of death poplar trees higher than heath poplar trees, the most significant was H. digitiformis among 11 nematodes. This is the first study on pathogenicity of dominant species. Inoculation results with dominant nematde species showed that H. digitiformis and X. hunaniense were pathogenic to half year old Populus×euramericana seedlings, but Filenchus orbus was not. Virulence of H. digitiformis , X. hunaniense and F. orbus to poplar seedlings had synergistic effect.
