In this paper, Erigeron breviscapus (Van.) Hand-Mazz is selected as the research object, and using of plant physiology and HPLC method to detection and analysis the effect of pH environmental conditions on it. In addition, which factors on total flavonoids and scutellarin are explored. The goal is to improve total flavonoids and scutellarin output of Erigeron breviscapus (Van.) Hand-Mazz by artificial means. The results are as follows:1 Liquid culture method of Erigeron breviscapus (Van.) Hand-Mazz is a convenient and efficient training method. On the one hand, liquid culture is more easy to be controlled by artificial means, and there is little interference by the external environment. On the other hand, plants grown in hydroponic culture are growing faster than grown in soil, and plants grown in hydroponic culture are growing uniform.2 Obtained by comparison of three sampling methods, fast drying plant material which can ensure the content of scutellarin is higher than the other two sampling methods.3 The pH of nutrient solution will affect the plants. On the one side, it will affect its growth and development, and weak acid environment is fit for plants'growth, especially suitable for the accumulation of aboveground biomass. However, it will decrease the content of total flavonoids and scutellarin. Analysis of its causes, one of biological functions of total flavonoids and scutellarin may be able to avoid the injury by excess acid or too alkaline environment on the plants.4 Total flavonoids and scutellarin as secondary metabolites can respose in ultraviolet(UV) irradiation and mechanical damage. Total flavonoids and scutellarin output of living plant can be improved. On the one hand, moderate ultraviolet irradiation in vivo plants can increase total flavonoids and scutellarin output; on the other hand, mechanical damage on the living plants can also increase the total flavonoids and scutellarin content. In addition, the effect of UV irradiation and mechanical damage on vitro leaf of Erigeron breviscapus (Van.) Hand-Mazz is less or almost not to exit. These results can be drawn, the environment pH will affect the plants grown, and weak acid environment can increase biomass, but will affect the total flavonoids and scutellarin content. In addition, total flavonoids and scutellarin content can be increased by a certain intensity of UV irradiation and mechanical damage on living plants. However, the process is limited by many factors (plant nature, the strength, inducing conditions and time, etc.) ,and the mechanism is more complicated.
