Study On Drought Resistance Of Twenty Elymus L. Germplasm Resources

Most species of Elymus L. germplasm resources are good grazing grass, which have a strong drought resistance. In China, there are many kinds of Elymus L., the protection and collection of wild resources which are used for its artificial cultivating.In this study, the drought resistance of twenty wild Elymus L. germplasm resources from different habitats were investigated. The drought stress was simulated by PEG-6000 in the seed germination period. With the increasing of PEG concentration, the the relative germination rate, germination potential, germination index, vitality index, shoot and root lengths were decreased. The anti-drought testing in seedling stage adopted the successive drought way, the indexes of physiology were measured. The results indicated that, the relative electrical conductivity, the content of malondialdehyde, free proline, chlorophyll were used as reliable indexes.According to this two experiments, the twenty germplasms were divided into the following three categories. The germplasms's sequence of strong drought resistance ability are E13 from Xinjiang > E19 from Tongde, Qinghai Province > E20 from Gangcha, Qinghai Province > E14 from Urumqi, Xinjiang > E02 from Wutaishan, Shanxi Province > E10 from Luqumaai, Gansu Province > E07 from Wutaishan, Shanxi Province > E01 from Ximeng, Neimenggu.The germplasms's sequence of medium drought resistance are E03 from Luqumaai, Gansu Province > E15 from Luqumaai, Gansu Province > E11 from Zhaosuaheyazi, Xinjiang Yil i> E06 from Jibukang, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region > E09 from Qingyuan, Shanxi Province.The germplasms's sequence of drought sensitive are E12 from baihua mountain, Beijing > E17 from Wuling moutain, Beijing> E05 from Xinjiang Yili > E18 from Taihuai, Shanxi Province > E04 from Wutaishan, Shanxi Province > E16 from Gangcha, Qinghai Province > E08 from Gangou, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
