The article selected 7 representative shelter belts as the experimental forest in Chongming and Nanhui, Shanghai, investigated the soil physical and chemical properties and hayashiuchi microclimate characteristics, and carried on the comparison and the analysis to it, drew the following conclusion:(1) The growth rate decrease order of each stand is unknown department of Populus euramericana forest, hybrid Willow forest, Taxodium ascendens forest, Metasequoia forest, Cryptomeria forest and Taxodium mucronatum×Cryptomeria fortunei forest. Except the Cryptomeria forest and Taxodium ascendens forest, other stands'growing trend is good. The species diversity in undergrowth of each stand decreases in the following order, Metasequoia forest, Elaeocarpus sylvestris forest, Taxodium mucronatum×Cryptomeria fortunei forest, Cryptomeria forest, hybrid Willow forest, unknown department of Populus euramericana forest, Taxodium ascendens forest.(2) The soil texture of each forestland is loam. All in all, with the deepening of soil layer, the soil pH value increases, the soil organic matter, total nitrogen content, total phosphorus content, available phosphorus content and available potassium content decrease, the salt content and anti-erodibility change slightly, other factors changes were not evident. In the different forest land, the soil salt content difference is not remarkable. The soil pH value, the organic matter, total nitrogen content, available potassium content, total porosity, non-capillary porosity and water stable index can be used as the appraisal soil amelioration effect the major targets or quotas.(3) In the different forest land, the wind speed and air relative humidity changed remarkably, while the air temperature and soil temperature had little difference in the degree of change. The microclimate environment effects of coastal shelterbelt were affected by stand types. The air relative humidity changed slightly in the vertical level near ground. In different time, the wind speed and air temperature changed remarkably, while the soil temperature and air relative humidity changed slightly.
