In this paper, superior genotypes of hybrid Liriodendron were selected based on the 3-4 years growth of offspring of 68 mating combinations of Liriodendron at 4 test sites, and a fingerprint for 330 hybrid Liriodendron clones was also constructed using 16 SSR molecular markers. The main results were as following:Based on the growth data from 3 test sites (Jingdezhen in Jiangxi, Xiashu in Zhenjiang, Jingxian in Anhui.), the variations among combinations and test sits were analyzed. There was a significant difference among combinations. It's demonstrated that the selection of superior combination was possible. Based on the synthetical analysis of growth character, 7 superior combinations were selected, they were H×M,L×C3,S×Z,S×N,S×M,N1×C2,BM×C5 respectively. Then, analyzed the GCA of each female parent based on the tested result of offsprings. The GCA of the 3 parents, S,L,N1, was higher so they could be superior breeding parents.The analysis result of ANOVA indicated that the site×combination interaction effect was significant, therefore, the site×combination interaction effect and the adaptability of 5 combinations that were apparent in 3 test sites were aslo estimated.16 pairs of polymorphsium SSR primers were screened from 176 pairs of Liriodendron EST-SSR primers, and they were used as the core primers for constructing the fingerprints of hybrid Liriodendron. Using these core primers, 330 clonal fingerprints have been constructed.
