Clinical and Experimental Studies on DendrobiumMixture in DiabetesModern Depatement, FuzhouFujian College of Traditional Chinese medicime (TCM)ShiHong[Abstract] : Analysing the effect on 60 cases of NIDDM of TCM differentiate belong to two types of Yin-deficiency and heat-overabundance (阴虚热盛),deficiency of both vitalenergy and Yin (气阴两虚) by using Dendrobium Mixture (石斛合剂) contrast to using Diamicron (达美康) as well as animal experimental study on hyperglycohemic mice with Dendrobium Mixture (DM). We were to preliminary observing the DM's effect of reducing the blood sugar of hygerglycemia and the treatment effect on climical symptoms and signs, and the change of lipid include triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), of blood viscosity et al, to enable the DM for further exploition and utilization.Animal experiment was used the methods of Adrenaline (肾上腺素) and Tetraoxypyrimidine (四氧嘧啶) inducing hyperglycocemia. Thus the clinical observation was used the method of combine differentation of disease (辨病) with differentiation of symptoms and signs (辨病) with above two types of people, they were divided into three groups. Normal group (people nondiabetics, 30 cases) : simple had DM. Curative group (people ill with NIDDM, 30 cases) : simple had DM or preserve former western medicine plus DM. Control group (people ill with NIDDM, 30 cases) : simple had Diamicron or Diamicron plus BG (双胍类降糖药). After one period of treatment we contrasted the effect of above three groups with change indexs of blood sugar, TG,TC, viscosity, clinical symptomsand signs.Animal experiment showed the DM was of remarkably reduce the blood sugar level of hyperglycemic mice with Adrenaline and Tetraoxypyrimidime inducing hyperglycemia (P<0.001) and return the blood sugar of above experimental diabetes mice to normal level. The DM decreasing blood sugar effection was superior to Phenformin (P<0.02). equal to Glyburide (P>0.05). but didn't have the glycopenic reaction of GlyburideClinical study showed the notable effective rate of decreasing blood sugar in curative group and control group was 63.3%, 23.3% separately. The total effective rate of decreasing blood sugar in above two groups was 96.7%, 73.3% respectively. The curative group was notably superior to control group (P<0.01).Above studies demonstrated the DM not only had directly decreasd the level of blood sugar, but also had improved the clinical symptoms and signs ,decreased the over-abundance of TG, TC, as well as viscosity and lead those inedxes to normal level. The studies confirmed the DM or DM plus western medicine was superior to the Diamicron or Diamicron plus BG. The results of above studies had lay a foundation of DM as a pure TCM drug to cure the deabetes. And the DM do have an important value of exploition and application.
