Objective:Multiple factors-hilierited and environmental are involved in the development of coronary heart disease(CHD). The purpose of our study is to investigate the distribution characteristic of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) gene polymorphism frequencies and association of ACE gene polymorphism with CHD in Chinese Han nationality to provide theoretical base for earlier prevention and genetic therapy.Methods:89 patients with CHD and 80 unrelated healthy individual were studied by using polymorase chain reaction(PCR) and genetic methods in addition to evaluate the coronary angiography of the patients. Results:(l)Among the normal subjects, the frequencies of the DD, ID and II genotypes was 1l.25%,67.50% and 21.25% respectively. The frequency of D and I alleles was 45% and 55% respectively. (2) ACE genotypes distribution in CHD patients, as well as myocardial infarction(Ml) and angina pectoris(AP) subgroups were significant different from that of the normal subject (P<0.00 1). The frequencies of the DD genotype in CHD, A? and MI groups were 41.57%, 43.18% and 40%, respectively.(3) The DD genotype frequency in multivessel disease patients were higher than-5-in single vessel disease patients (P
