Objective: To observe cell injury by reactive oxygen species(ROS)after limb ischemia/reperfusion and investigate appropriated antioxidation anaesthetic which can prevent organization from peroxidative injury.Method:Thirty cases were randomly divided into two groups:control group(n=15) and observed group(n=15). ASA I-II,age 20-65, heart and lungs functions were normal . epidural anaesthesia.were administered in all patients. No heart and lungs desease. Patients in the observed group were given propofol by target controlled infusion.,on the contrary not any intravenous agent.was given in the controlled group.Serum MDA GSH were observed respectively before limb ischemia,30,60min and 90min after reperfusion. Results: A significant serum MDA increase and GSH decrease were seen at reperfusion 30,60,90min comparing with the pre-ischemia value in the control group and the observed group(P<0.01).In the observed group the serum MDA value was significantly lower than that of the control group at reperfusion 30,60,90min(p<0.01).GSH activity increased gradually in the observed group and evidently higher than the value of the control group at reperfusion 30,60min(P<0.01) and a litter higher at reperfusion 90min(P<0.05)Conclusion: propofol can reduce peroxidative injuries in clinical relevant concentration.
