ABSTACT ABSTRACT Alzheimer disease (AD) is a kind of neurodegenerative disease that cause progressive cognitive and behavior deterioration in the elderly over 65.As the life span of human beings increase and people aged more than 65 are more and more, the number of people with AD has increased too, which is a heavy burden to AD patients? families and our society. It is imperative for medical workers to find ways to cure this disease. Currently there is no certain doctrine about pathogenesis and etiology of AD, neither is cure. However some factors such as heredity, apoptosis free radicals can partly explain the mechanism of AD. To the points of Chinese traditional medicine, the morbidity of AD is due to insufficiency of the kidney... deficiency of Qi and stagnant blood. In our experiment, a kind of AD梞odel梤at was adopted which had been dealed with D梥emilactose to accelerate aging process and quiuline acid to damage neurons. Then we compared model group with control group treated with NJ capsules in terms of their behavior science~ morphology~. activity of SOD and AchE in their cerebral tissue. Experiment results indicate: 1. Ni capsules can prolong the incubation period and reduce missing reaction times in their behavior science test. 2. NJ capsules can decrease number of free radicals and quantity of Lipofuscin in cerebral tissue to protect neurons from damage of them. 3. NJ capsules can decrease activity of AchE in cerebral tissue. 4. NJ capsules can improve the pathology changes in cerebral tissue of AD ?model ?rats.
