In recent 20 years, with the developments of many relative subjects, tumor hyperthermia had made great improvement and used widely in clinical practice. Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation(PRFA) is a newly developed technique in treating tumors, especially the therapy of PRFA is staying in a beginning state and many problems hasn't been clarified such as biological mechanism, pathophysiological changes and safety. Through the present experiment with Newzealand rabbit, we observed: (1) the safety, effectiveness and complications of PRFA in the rabbit lungs. (2) the natural recovery process of pulmonary foci after PRFA. Conclusions were as follows:(1) The therapy of PRFA was safe, minimally damaged, effective and reliable in treating rabbit lungs and caused some degree of tissue coagulation necrosis.(2) The natural recovery process of pulmonary foci after PRFA might be divided into three stages: the stage of inflammatory reaction, the stage of the proliferation of fibrous tissue, the stage of recovery. Normal pulmonary structure wasn't damaged.(3) Considering the anatomic structures of the hilum, the position of the electrodes must be carefully handled according to its relation to the bronchus and blood vessel, when the procedure was applied near the hilum. Otherwise, serious complications would be caused including hemothorax, hemoptysis, suffocation and even death.(4) CT scanning could make localization more accurate and judge the range of coagulation necrosis. With its help, PRFA might be more accurate and controllable.(5) PRFA's complications included: pneumothorax, hemothorax, pneumonia, hemoptysis and suffocation or even death.
