The Act of MMP-2,9 and TIMP-1,2 on the invasion and metastasis of Nasopharyngeal CarcinomaGraduate Haiyan FengInstructor Guangwu HuangOBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between the expression of Matrix metalloproteinases-2,9(MMP-2,MMP-9), Tissue inhibitor of Matrix metalloproteinases-1,2(TIMP-1,TIMP-2) and the invasion and metastasis of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma(NPC). METHODS : MMP-2, MMP-9, TIMP-1,TIMP-2 Protein expression in 48 Patients of NPC and 16 Patients with nasopharyngeal mucositis were studied by immunohistochemistry method. RESULTS: the relationship between TIMP-1,TIMP-2 protein expression and the primary region stage of the NPC are positive correlation respectively(p＜0.05), with the progression of the primary region of NPC,the TIMP-1 increasing. The ratio of MMP-2/TIMP-1,MMP-2/TIMP-2 show negative correlation with the TNM stage of NPC respectively(p＜0.05). CONCLUSION: The expression of TIMP-1, TIMP-2 protein, the ratio of MMP-2/TIMP-1, MMP-2/TIMP-2 may be regarded as signs of the progression of NPC.
