Expression Of P~(73) Gene In Ovarian Cancer Tissues And Its Significance

Abstract/Summary:
Objective To study the expression of P73 gene in ovarian cancer tissues andinvestigate the role of P73 gene in the carcinogenesis and development of ovarian cancer.Methods 42 cases of ovarian cancer and 17 cases of normal ovarian tissuewere examined for expression levels of P73 gene by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.Results 36 cases of ovarian cancer were determined to be overexpressed, 8of which were well-differentiated (Gl. G2), 28 of which were poor differentiated, 6 of which were stage I -II, 30 of which were stage III-IV. Only 5 of normal ovarian tissues were determined to be overexpression of P71gene. The expression level of p73 gene was higher in poor-differentiated group(G3,28/29). than that of well-differentiated group(Gl.G2,8/13) Moreover, theexpression level of p73 gene in stage III-IV (30/32) was higher than that of stage I -II (6/10).There was significant difference between ovarian cancers and normal ovarian tissues as well as different stages and differentiation level of ovarian cancer in the expression levels of P73 gene. However, there was no difference between the expression levels of two different histological types of ovarian cancers.Conclusion The results suggst that the overexpression of p"gene is wellrelated with the carcinogenesis and development of ovarian cancer. The expression of P73 gene may be related to clinical stage and differentiation level of ovarian cancer, but not related to different histological types of ovarian cancer.
