To determine whether there is a relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and coronary atherosclerotic heart disease. Methods: Parameters of IMT (intima-mediathickness), clinical features and coronary angiographic findings were analyzed in 32 patients. Results 18 patients had CAD(luminal diameter narrowing ≥ 50%),and 14 patients had normal coronary arteries. There was significant difference in the ratio of left IMT between patients with CAD and no CAD. Logistic regression analysis showed that left IMT was positively related with the incidence of CAD. The regression equation was as follows: Ln[p/(l-p)]= -0.007+197.9821eftIMT -188.72rightIMT. The right ratio of predicting CAD with the equation is 88.9%. Conclusion: There was a relationship between IMT and CAD. It is practicable to predict the incidence of CAD with IMT.
