Effects Of Extracts Oil From Artemsia Dracunculus L. On Immunological Function In Immunodepressed Mice

Objective: the Effects of extracts oil from Artemsia dracunculus L. on immunological function in immunodepressed mice induced by cyclophosphamide were studied. Methods: the immunosuppressed mice were induced by cyclophosphamide (Cp 50mg/kg ip ). In order to detect the immunrnodulatory effects of Artemsia dracunculus L. , The immune organ under light microscope and electro microscope are observed, the immune organ weights, the white blood cell counts in peripheral blood, the phagocytosis ability of Macrophage, the lymphocyte transformation (MTT methods), serum IL-2 ,serum hemolysin concentration 50% were tested. Results: the results showed that extracts of Artemsia dracunculus L. at the dose of 7.5%,3.75%,1.875% 20 ml/kg.w, can cause a signficant increase of WBC (P<0.05) , thymus index, spleen index, (P<0.05) phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of phagocyte, (P<0.05) the transformation rate of the spleen lymphocytes,(P<0.05) and the serum IL-2(P<0.05),serum hemolysin concentration 50%( P<0.05)in immunodepressed mice. Conclusions: extracts oil from Artemsia dracunculus L. can significantly enhance the non-specific, cell-mediated and humoral immunological function in immunodepressed mice. It was suggested that the extracts oil of Artemsia dracunculus L. may be an effective immunomodulating agent.
