Study Of Somatosensory Evoked Potential In The Disease Of Trigeminal Nerve

Objective To study conductive features of trigeminal diseaseful evoked potential, in order to evaluate function of nervous system of original trigeminal neuralgia and numbness of trigeminal branch, bring out meaning that we measure evoked potential of trigeminal disease, therefore providing the theoretical foundation for treating the trigeminal disease in clinical medicine.Methods Using the electromyograph of DISA-2000M made in Denmark, electrodes were emplaced according to international 10-20 system of electroencephalogram (EEG), 32 patients of original trigeminal neuralgia and 10 patients of numbness of trigeminal nerve were measured evoked potential in both sides of face respectively, and then we contrast these data and analyse them,include the team of health people. Statistical method Using paired-samples t test of SPSS 10.0 software package. Results 1.Activating threshold reduced in the team of persons suffering from original trigeminal neuralgia, high peak happened ahead of schedule, amplitudes in trouble sides didn't change, latencies of chief waves were early.2.Threshold of numb's team that trigeminal nerve were damaged raised, latencies of evoked potential in trouble sides were delay than in healthy sides, and amplitudes reduced, parts of waves were absent, rate of waves was less.3.Result indicated that Carbamazepine and trigeminal nerve avulsion made TSEP graph change. Carbamazepine showed early waves disappear, later waves delayed and amplitudes reduced. After nerve avulsion TSEP didn't have waveform appearance. Conclusion Studying electrophysiological parameters of TSEP had increased diagnostic indexes signs, and provided objective basis for evaluating treatment and prognosis .The evoked potential conduce to diagnosis of nature and ration about trigeminal neuralgia. Although TSEP isn't special, it's highly sensitive. It is an assistant message of diagnosis, and makes it possible that we observe pathology physiology changes from the angle of electrophysiology, understand the disease greatly, and accumulate knowledge or experience of using TSEP. At the same time TSEP before operation offer antitheses for monitoring during operation and reexamine after operation, then contrast and analyse the effect and syndrome of surgery, in favor ofimproving curative effect and reducing the complication.According to the inspectional result, TSEP show evidence strongly in trigeminal nervous disease, especially in secondary trigeminal nervous lesion. This technique is a simple measure, shape of wave is stable, potential of muscle disturb less. Amplitudes and peak latencies changed, waves were absent. Therefore it is an effective manner for diagnosing trigeminal nerve disease.
