The ethanolic extracts of Anthopleura pacifica was investigated and Pyricularia oryzae bioassay-guided fractionation led to the isolation of thirty-two compounds. On the basis of spectral analysis (IR, EIMS, FABMS, ESIMS, GC/MS, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, DEPT, 'H-1H COSY, HMQC, HMBC) and chemical evidence (hydrolysis, acetylation), twenty-two compounds were identified. These compounds are as following: cholesterol (1), 5α, 8a-epidioxyergosta-6, 22-dien-3β-ol (2), 4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (3), N-methylpyridine-2-carboxylic salt (4), taurine (5), ethyl allophanate (6), uracil (7), thymine (8), thymidine (9), n-hexadecane (10), 1-tridecanol (11), palmitic acid (12), stearic acid (13), methyl palmitate (14), methyl arachidate (15), 1-O-cerotoyl glycerol (16), 25, 3R, A4(E), A 8(E)-octadecasphingol-n-hexadecamide (17), 25, 3R, A4(E), A8(E)-octadecasphingol-n-tetradecamide (18), N-hydroxyethyl-N-tetradecanoyl-(25, 3/?)-octadecasphinga-4(E), 8(E)-dienine (19), N-hydroxyethyl-N-(9Z-hexadecenoyl)-(25, 3R)-octadecasphinga-4(E), 8(E)-dienine (20), N-hydroxyethyl-N-hexadecanoyl-(25, 3R)-octadecasphinga-4(E), 8(E)-dienine (21) and N-hydroxyethyl-N-(13Z-docosenoyl-(25, 3R)-octadecasphinga-4(E), 8(E)-dienine (22). All the compounds were obtained from the sea anemone for the first time, among which compounds 4,6,17,18,19,20,21 and 22 showed activity causing morphological deformation of Pyricularia oryzae mycelia. According to the best of our knowledge, compounds 19, 20, 21 and 22 have never been reported in the literature.
