Drosera peltata Smith var. multispepala Y. Z. kuan., belonging to the Droseraceae family, is a perennial plant that is widely distributed throughout south China. It has been commonly used in Tibetan medicine for the treatment of irregular menstruation, the old injury recurrence and scrofulaceum embolism. Modern pharmacology research has elucidated the constituents of this plant have antibacterial, anti-fertility and lower blood pressure effects. We find that the ethanol extract of Drosera peltata Smith var. multispepala has the inhibitory activity of NF-κB and Pyricularia oryzae P-2b. Phytochemical investigation lead to the isolation of eleven compounds fron EtOAc and water fractions. On the basis of their characteristics and spectras, the structures and absolute configurations of these compounds were established as isoshinanolone-4-O-glucoside(1), isoshinanolone(2), epi-isoshinanolone(3), plumbagin(4), droserone(5), droserone-5-O-glucoside(6), quercetin(7), kaempferol(8), gossypetin-8-O-glucoside(9),3,3'-dimethoxy ellagic acid(10) and ellagic acid(11). Compound 1 was a new compound that was named as isoshinanolone-4-O-glucoside. Compound 3,8,10,11 were isolated from this plant for the first time. Compound 3, 4,5,6,8,9,10 have been shown inhibitory activity against Pyricularia oryzae P-2b. Compound 4 has been shown inhibitory activity against Staphyloccocus aureus Rosenbach.
