To explore significance of leptin and the function of βcell of pancreatic islets in pathogenesis of EH ,We observed the dynamic changes in plasma leptin, proinsulin (PI) and true insulin (TI) in patients with EH and observed the effects of ramipril on leptin, function of βcell of pancreatic islets and sensitivity of insulin in EH . We found that the plasma concentration of leptin,PI and IRI were higher in EH than in the control. There may be hyperleptinaemia and hyperproinsulinemia, the level of TI was not higher in EH. There may be dysfunction of βcell of pancreatic islets in EH;Hyperproinsulinemia was one of the independent dangerous factors of cardiovascular disease;Leptin may be related to the pathophysiology of EH;Ramipril can decrease the level of leptin and PI,increase insulin sensitivity, and improve the function of βcell of pancreatic islets. This maybe a new mechanism of of ramipril.
