To research differences of blood supply among pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius, with tensor fasciae latae and with both of them so as to find a new way of curing femoral neck fractures in young adults and also to provide reliable grounds for clinical application. MethodsFirstly,20 pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius and with tensor fasciae latae in 10 fresh cadavers of adults were separated intactly with the muscle pedicles 5cm long, then the mixtures of ink and formalin were poured into these cadavers through femoral arteries on the right, and then all the muscle pedicles were anatomized, the quantities of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm were abserved and the external diameters of these arteries were measured with the help of microscope. The mean external diameters and the total crosscut areas of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm were calculated separately. In the end,the quantities and the total crosscut areas of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm among pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius, with tensor fasciae latae and with both of them were compared and analyzed statistically. ResultsThe medians(Md) and the interquartile ranges(OR) of the quantities and the total crosscut areas of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm of pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius, with tensor fasciae latae and with both of them were 6(1),5(2),11(3),respectively and 0.085l(0.0284)mm2,0.083l(0.0427)mm2,0.1673(0.0947)mm2,respectively. There were significant differences in the total crosscut areas of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm between pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius and ones with both sartorius and tensor fasciae latae, and between ones with tensor fasciae latae and ones with both sartorius and tensor fasciae latae(P=0.000). However, there was no significantdifference in the total crosscut areas of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm between pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius and ones with tensor fasciae latae(P=0.156). There were significant differences in the quantities of inked arteries in proximal muscle pedicles with the length of 1cm between any two among pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius, with tensor fasciae latae and with both sartorius and tensor fasciae latae (P=0.000). ConclusionsBlood supply of each of pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius, with tensor fasciae latae and with both of them is reliable.Blood supply of pedicled iliac bone flap with both sartorius and tensor fasciae latae is more than that of any one of pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius and with tensor fasciae latae .It can not be concluded that there are differences in blood supply between pedicled iliac bone flaps with sartorius and with tensor fasciae latae.
