In nowadays' society, accompany with the increase of people's demand for higher living quality and the raise of cerebrovascular disease, rehabilitation therapy has been needed widely. According to the drawback of present rehabilitation therapy, this thesis brought forward an arm rehabilitation system scheme which based on Virtual Reality (VR) technology.VR technology can make lifelike immersion feeling. Applying VR technology into rehabilitation therapy, it can not only decrease the monotone of rehabilitation exercise, increases the confidence of patients, but also provide special effect to the patients, improves therapy effect. VR technology is also beneficial for psychotherapy and at the same time it can greatly release the burden of doctors.At the present, in many developed countries, applying VR technology to medical field is very hot, but in our country this kind of work is just in the primary stage, reports about arm exoskeletons based on VR technology used for rehabilitation have not been found. This arm rehabilitation system is specially designed for those arm disabled people or the people who just finished arm operation need to recover arm function. Its function theory is based on kinesitherapy and occupational therapy. It is discussed from hardware and software in detail.In this paper, some researches have been done on applying VR technology to rehabilitation therapy fields and a scheme of using arm exoskeletons to do arm rehabilitation therapy is brought forward. According to the theories of rehabilitation medicine, an arm exoskeletons is developed, the scheme of kinesitherapy is made, and the software used for arm exoskeletons movement control is designed, too. This paper has done some researches on the methods of building 3D models and collision detection, a virtual environment application platform is developed. According to the need of arm occupational therapy, a virtual occupational task simulation is designed. According to the theories of body movement ability evaluation, the items and the rules of evaluation have been made. A rehabilitation case history database has been built,it can be convenient for the nurses to consult and management. This achievement is very beneficial for the further research on this field.
