Objective: To evaluate the safety, feasibility, and effect of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) of Mirizzi syndrome. Method: The operative procedure and clinical data of one case of type I Mirizzi syndrome which was successfully treated with LC were retrospectively analyzed. A review of the literatures on its clinical manifestation, diagnosis, and surgical treatment is also presented. Result: The patient with Mirizzi type I syndrome was treated laparoscopically and no complications such as biliary fistula and cholangitis were happened after operation with two months follow-up. Conclusion: For experienced operators with skillful technology, laparoscopic treatment of Mirizzi type I syndrome is technically feasible and safe.
