Application Of Ascending Aorta Wrapping Technique In Cardiac Surgery

Objective: Introduce the ascending aorta wrapping technique, selection ofwrapping materials and the application in cardiac surgery.Methods: Between Jan 1998 and Mar 2003, 16 cases in our hospital wereperformed aorta wrapping, leases was pure ascending aorta wrapping, 9 cases with wrapping and AVR, 3 cases with wrapping and DVR, 2 cases with distal anastomosis wrapping in Bentall procedure. Among those, 2 patients were packed with autologous pericardial patch, Lars Mesh in 9 patients, Dcron in 3 patients, Surgipro Mesh in 2 patients.Results: There was no case dead in oprative procedure. One patient died fromserious arrhythmias the second day postoperation. Mean drainage was about 420.6ml. 8 cases after operation were good who were rechecked by cardiac ultrasonography. 15 patients were discharged.Conclusions: Aorta Wrapping is an effective method, and Lars Mesh is superior to other packing material.
