Objective To explore the expression of the nuclear factor-κB in human meningioma. The correlationship of NF-κB with the EFG,EFGR and the clinic significance was analyzed. Methods 50 human meningioma patients(18 fibroblastic,11 meningotheliomatous,10 mixed,4 psammomatous,7 angiomatous) were studied. The expression of NF-κBp65,EGF,EGFR in them were examined by immunohistochemical method. Results (1)There are no expression of NF-κBp65 in the common dura tissues. But there are different level expressions of NF-κBp65 in the meningioma tissues. The different level expressions between in the normal dura and meningioma is notable(P<0.005).In the different type mieningioma, the expressions of NF-κBp65 are notable different(χ2=18.212,df=4,P=0.001<0.005).Most of the expressions of NF-κB in psammomatous and angiomatous mieningioma are weak or negative. NF-κB is related to EGF in meningioma tissue(r=0.4524, P=0.001<0.005)but is not to EGFR(r=-0.2506, P=0.079>0.05). The expression of NF-κB has not correlation with necrosis, calcification, peritumoral edema and without(r=-0.27, P=0.15>0.05; r=-0.045, P=0.754; r=-0.043, P=0.769) in the meningioma. Conclusion The expression of NF-κB is anomaly in the meningiomas, and it is possible related to occurrence, cell proliferation of meningioma cell. As the still deeper research of NF-κB is accomplished, a new way of treatment of meningioma by medicines will be found.
