Objective: the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Boschniakia rossica(BR), oxymatrine (OM) and interferon alpha 1b(IFN-α)on the therapy of rat liver fibrosis and its mechanism . method: by establishing pig serum-induced rat liver fibrosis, we observed the effect of BR,OM and IFN-αon liver/weight index, serum biochemical of ALT,radioimmunoassay of PCⅢ,CⅣ, expression of liver TGFβ1 -mRNA,immuno- histochemistry of α-SMA and changes of tissue pathology. Result: serum PCⅢ,CⅣ of BR group,OM group and IFN-αgroup were significant declined than model group, their RT-PCR revealed TGFβ1-mRNA expressed were also reduced than model group. Immuno- histochemistry demonstrated that α-SMA was declined than model group too. While serum ALT of IFN-α was similar higher as control and model groups within normal level. Serum ALT of BR had no significant change to IFN-α,control and model groups. Serum ALT of OM was significant higher than BR,IFN-α,model,control groups. Conclusion: These result indicated that BR,OM and IFN-α could prevent pig serum-induced liver fibrosis of rat by inhibiting the activation of stellate cells and synthesis of collagen. The study also showed OM had hepatotoxicity on the rat liver fibrosis induced by pigserum...
