Methods: 30 cases of asthmatic children with wheezing and 30 cases of normal children had been allocated into two groupos. Peripheral serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha,interferon-ganna were individual determined by enzyne linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)before the treatment of xiaochuantang and after the treatment of it. Peak expiratory flow(PEF)was tested by Mini-Wright instrument of peak flow,all results were analysed by SAS statistical system. Results: The peripheral serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha of asthmatic children with wheezing before the treatment of the drug was higher than those who had been treated with the drug(P<0.05)and the normal children group (p<0.001) . On the other hand,the peripheral serum interferon-gamma of asthmatic children with wheezing before the treatment of the drug was lower than those who had been treated with it(p<0.05)and lower than the normal children group (p<0.001) . The peak expiratory flow was lower in the period or asthmatic episode before using the drug than after the use of the drug and the normal children group (p<0.001) . After the treatment of XiaochuanTang ,all targets were reached to normal level . Conclusion : The tumor necrosis factor-alpha of asthmatic children with wheezing had a negative correlation with the interferon-gamma,the peak expiratory folw had a negative correlation with the tumor necrosis factor-alpha . This is an evidence to remind that tumor factor-alpha and interferon-gamma may be an eminent of hyperactive airway inflammation in asthma.
