| Objective: To investigate the correlation between the serum levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), interleukin-10(IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) ,interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and sluggishness of lung-wei, the pathology of Weifen syndrome of acute febrile disease. Methods: The serum levels of above-mentioned cytokines(CK) in 24 patients with Weifen syndrome with 26 patients with Qifen syndrome were examined and compared. In the meantime, the serum levels of these CKs of Weifen syndrome according to their foci which were in or not in the lungs, were compared, and the changes of these cytokines along with the state of illness changed were observed. Results: 1.No matter the foci were in or not in lungs, compared with control group, the serum levels of IL-1β,IL-6 increased significantly in the state of sluggishness of lung-wei, while the levels of IL-10,TNF-α didn't increase ,indicating the inflammatory reaction and immune response in the early stage of acute febrile disease. 2. In Qifen syndrome with the foci in or not in the lungs, the level of IL-6 continued to increase, IL-10 increased along with it, and the difference between it and Weifen syndrome was significant, suggesting IL-6, IL-10 might be the indexes for distinguishing Weifen syndrome from Qifen syndrome. The differences between Weifen syndrome and Qifen syndrome in IL-1β, and TNF-αwere significant only when the foci were in the lungs, indicating they might be the indexes for distinguishing Weifen syndrome from Qifen syndrome when the foci were in the lungs.3.No matter the patients had Weifen syndrome or Qifen syndrome, the level of IL-1β of patients whose foci were in the lungs was higher than that of patients whose foci were not in the lungs, the difference was significant, while the change of IL-6 happened right in the opposite way, and there was relationship between levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and the foci. As for IL-10 and TNF-α, the difference was of no significance, indicating they were related to the phases of pathology changes, and might be the indexes for Qifen syndrome.4.The level of IL-1β decreased greatly when the fever of the patients with Weifen syndrome and Qifen syndrome whose foci were in the lungs subsided , the difference was significant, while the level of Il-6 decreased greatly when the fever of the patients with Weifen syndrome and Qifen syndrome whose foci were out of the lungs subsided, the difference were significant. The level of IL-10 decreased significantly when the fever of the patients with Qifen syndrome subsided. With regard to TNF-α, there was no significant difference, suggesting IL-1β,IL-6 and IL-10 might be indexes for reflecting the changes of state of illness of Weifen syndrome and Qifen syndrome. Conclusion: In sluggishness of lung-wei, the increase of serum levels of IL-1β,IL-6 reflect the inflammatory reaction and immune response in the early stage of acute febrile disease. IL-6 and IL-10 have close correlation with the nature of pathology of Qifen syndrome, and may be indexes for distinguishing Weifen syndrome from Qifen syndrome. IL-1β, TNF-αmay be indexes for distinguishing Weifen syndrome from Qifen syndrome when the foci were in the lungs .And there is relationship between the levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and the foci of Weifen syndrome and Qifen syndrome. IL-10 and TNF-α are related to the phase of pathology changes, may be the indexes for Qifen syndrome. The levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10 changed along with the fever of the patients with Weifen syndrome or Qifen syndrome subsided. |
