Objectives The purpose of this study was to assess whether reversal of ischemia-induced left ventricular regional wall motion abnormality (RWMA) and myocardial function is improved after PTCA+ stent by supine bicycle stress echocardiography ( SBSE ) can be detect , to demonstrate that SBSE is a noninvasive , safety and convenient tool for clinical application. Methods twenty-two patients underwent SBSE within 1 week before and within 1 ?3 months after angiographically successful PICA. To evaluate the improvement of myocardial function by comparing wall motion score index(WMSI), work load , time of exercise and rate-pressure product(RPP) pre- and post- PTCA SBSE .Results The frequency of exercise-induced new wall motion abnormalities decreased from 18(82%) before to 4 (18%) after PTCA ; Before PTCA , wall motion score index(an indicator of left ventricular wall motion , an increase in which indicate impaired wall motion due to myocardial ischemia ) increased from 1.22±0.27 at rest to 1.57±0.42 at peak stress (P<0. 005), but there was no significant increase in this index in the study after PICA;WMSI at peak stress decreased from 1.57±0.42 before PICA to 1.24±0.28 after PICA (P<0.001) .Work load , time of exercise and rate-pressure product were increased significantly after PTCA .Conclusions (1)This study demonstrates that the relief of a coronary stenosis reverses exercise-induced ischemia and myocardial function is improved after PTCA . (2) SBSK is an accurate , safety and convenient tool for the evaluation of the post-PTCA patients.
