Research Of XML-based Electronic Patient Record Application Architecture

With the advancement of hospital information technology, the research in EPR (Electronic Patient Record) has become the focus of medical region in domestic and foreign in recent years. The key point is how to implement the EPR with open, standard, extensible method.In an open and self-description way, XML (extensible Markup Language) defines the data structure as well as the content and the structure, as it denotes the relationship between data. There are expansibility, readability, platform-independent and structure virtues in XML. At the same time, there is a set of standard technology architecture in relation to XML application.With the development of XML, person has concerned about the XML in the medical region, such as EPR. Furthermore, the application of XML technology in EPR needs an architecture which guides the solution to some problems, such as XML design and application, toolkit support and so on. And, how to implement the medical data definition, browse, edit, transformation, transfer and security has been the chief problem which should be solved at present.This thesis brings forward the basic design about the XML-based EPR application architecture, moreover presents the detail research on the primary problems, including:Based on analysis and reference of the existed foreign XML-based medical data standard, have designed the CMML (Clinical Medical Markup Language) which suits domestic medical environment and acts as the data basis in EPR.Based on research of the XML technology, have designed the XML-based medical document style description language, named as FR (Formatted Report) language, which embodies the structured browse, edit and generalization.Based on CMML and FR, have designed and implemented the medical document browse-edit component and visual FR template editor.Research the transformation method between well-defined medical data format in the thesis with other medical data format, then design and implement the data transformation program.Research the security in EPR basically.
