Sophora alopecuroides L. is a kind of plant, which has many kinds of alkaloids in the seeds and other parts of body. These alkaloids have various effects in pharmacology such as against inflammation, cancer, virus, and parasite. In these years, many studies were done on matrine and oxymatrine, and some active ingredients of them have been used in the clinic. Sophocarpine is a member of total alkaloids in Sophora alopecuroides L.. The objective of the experiment is to separate sophocarpine out from total alkaloids of Sophora alopecuroides L, and identify it by TLC. With acid dye spectrophotometry, the concentration of sophocarpine was measured, the recovery of this method was 98.7%. Several models of inducing inflammation were used in mice to study the anti-inflammatory effect of Sophocarpine. The result showed that Sophocarpine inhibited all these kinds of inflammation in the models significantly. The Sophocarpine was administered to mice infected with parasites by oral routine, the result showed that Sophocarpine had significant anti-parasite effect for nematodes in mice, but had no effect for tetranychus in mice.
