The Expression Of Apoptosis Inhibitor Gene Survivin In Gastric Cancer And It's Significance

Objective To study the expression of Survivin (apoptosis-inhibitor) in gastric cancer and assay for clinical pathological significance. Methods We detected the expression of Survivin in 20 cases of benign gastric ulcers, 45 cases with gastric cancer and their neighboring noncancerous tissues by Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and disclased its relationship with the clinicopathological parameters of gastric cancer. Results (1) The overall positive rate of Survivin in 45 cases with gastric cancers is 68.89% ,No Survivin was found in their neighboring noncancerous tissues 20 cases of benign gastric ulcers.(2)The positive rate of survivin has no relation to gender and age. (3)The positive rate of Survivin in stage I, II ,III,IV gastric cancer is 20.00%,58.33%,83.33%,80.00% respectively, it is 29.63%(8/27) in stage of I+II gastric cancer and 82.14%(23/28) in stage of III+IV (PO.01), the expression rate of Survivin is higher in later clinical stages of gastric cancers.(4)The positive rate of Survivin in highly differentiated, neutral differentiated and lowly differentiated gastric adenoma is 58.33%, 68.75%, 76.47% respectively, it shows a trend of increase, but the difference among them is no statistical significance (P>0.05).(5)The positive rate in gastric cancer with and without local lympth node metastasis is 91.67% versus 42.86%, the difference between them is statistical significance (P<0.001). Conclusion In this study, we found that Survivin is significantly incread in gastric cancers, in contrast, it is undetectable in benign gastric ulcers.It interpretes that the cells apoptosis result from the abnormal expression of Survivin affect the occurrence of gastric cancer . The expression rate of Survivin is higher in later clinical stages of gastric cancers. The expression rate of Survivin is higher in gastric cancers with local lympth node metastasis than in gastric cancers without locallympth node metastasis. The expression of Survivin is an important marker ofdysprognosis of tumor.
