Clinical Observation On The Effects Of Tibia And Fibia Fracture With External Fixator And Chinese Traditional Medicine

Objective The subject is to Observe the effect in treatment of Tibia and Fibia Fracture by unilateral axial external fixator and Ilizarov external fixator with Chinese traditional medicine ; Observing the improvements about the patients function after treatment.Methods Between 1999-2003, 64 cases of Tibia and fibula Fracture were randomly divided into unilateral axial external fixator group (the treatment group)and Ilizarov external fixator group(the comparison group).The two groups were given Chinese traditional medicine. All cases were followed up for 8-21 months (mean 16.5 months). Observing the callus, the healing period of the fractures and the fuction of the limb. During the treatments, the patients were encouraged early to have ambulation and weight bearing.Results The two groups got well healing reduction and union. Compared to the callus, the healing period of the fractures and the fuction of the low limb, the treatment group achieved better improvements than the comparison group The effective of healing of the joint function were mostly recovered.Conclusion Tibia and Fibia fracture can achieve satisfied effected with unilateral axial external fixator with Chinese traditional medicine.
