Objective:To investigate the images of comeal endothelium cells of rabbit eyes under persistent ocular hypertension and the renovation status ofinjured comeal endothelium cells after recovering ocular tension and to study its injury and recovery mechanisms on glance in order to provide experimental evidence for clinical on glaucoma .Methods: 42rabbit (84 eyes) were split into 2groups. One group was further split into four sub-groups .The first was the normal control group .The latter three sub-groups were used to measure the rise of ocular tension in the rabbits eyes, at 1,3,5 weeks. The second group was split into three sub-groups,to measure the recovery from 5 weeks of intraocular hypertension, at 2,4, and 6 weeks. 2% methyi-cellulose was injected into anterior chamber 42 rabbit eyes to make a model of intraocular hypertension . Ocular tension had recovered by rabbits'irises being cut .The cornea! endo thelium Cells of the experimental rabbits's eyes were observed under special microscop and transmission electron microscope on various persist ocular hypertension days . Results: The endothelium cell density of the experimental group 2,3,4 was significantly lower then that of the control group .Among these three groups ,there was a significant difference. The longer of persistent ocular hypertension, the lower of the average cell denshy of comeal endothelium in rabbit eyes . The ultrastructual changes show cystic depuration of varying degree, enlargement of endoplauTule and cell nudear membrane under the transmission electron microscope. There were burst cell under membrane .outflow of nudeoplasy damage of chromosome on comeal endothelium cells in 5 week group rabbit eyes. It inferred the phenomenon that cells had become necrosis. The endothelium cells density of experiment 5,6,7 groups were higher than mat of the fourlh group ,and among these three group .mere were significantly difference. The longer of duration after recovering ocular tension .the higher of the endothelium cell densityand the ultranstructural changes showed that the damage would be repaired under the transmission electro nic microscope. Conclusions:The study showed the corneal endotheliuminjury mechanisms were direct damaged from persistent hyper intraocular pressure The injured comeal endothelium cells would he repaired accompanying the ocular tension's recorony. The results suggest that the ocular hypertenion of glaucoma patients should persist in dinical treatment Recovering the ocular tension would he helpful to the repayment of injured comeal endothelium cell.
